The K8 edge banding machine is a machine for demanding customers, with a separate glue tank.

Basic technical parameters:

Thanks to the use of an adhesive system with a heated alignment roller, the bonding is permanent, and the adhesive is applied very evenly. The back of the binding made in this way is completely flat and looks very aesthetically pleasing. The machine is equipped with a separate glue tank for side gluing. The machine perfectly copes with gluing cartridges made of chalk paper (up to 130 g/m²).

The binding process can be fully automatic (three modes of operation) with the exception of cover feeding, which significantly speeds up the work and guarantees uniformly consistent quality of the bindings. Thanks to their robust construction and high productivity, the machines are used in offset and digital printing houses and binderies.

Characteristics of EVA (hot melt) adhesives used in the above-mentioned binders: As a standard product used in typical book binding, EVA (hot melt) hot melt glue can be purchased in hundreds of versions, although certain characteristics are specific to each. EVA hot melt adhesives are composed of thermoplastic polymers, adhesion-enhancing resins and waxes, reaching the right viscosity when heated to a certain temperature in a tank. EVA adhesives are heated before application, allowing them to be processed. EVA glue can be used to bond coated and uncoated paper. It is in most cases strong enough, dries quickly, and is affordable and available in many varieties. Once applied, EVA glue rigidly bonds all parts together. Special pressure-responsive varieties are used to glue the sides of the liner and hardcover components. In modern EVA adhesives, chemical transformations occur very slowly during storage and use of finished products. However, these adhesives have a relatively high glass transition temperature and products stored in cold warehouses may crack. This effect disappears once they reach room temperature.
