Print Festival 2019 behind us... "New inspirations" matrix-free gilding

The Printing Festival, which took place in the EXPO XXI Hall in Warsaw on September 18-19, was a time for Akonda to present its bestselling products. They were very popular with customers, who eagerly watched the presentation of devices supporting the automation of bindery processes.

The Swift Speed Fold creasing and folding line was premiered. Customers were able to see in person how multifunctional this machine is, dedicated to both digital and offset printing, which creases, (or perforates) and folds at the same time. Guests were able to see for themselves how intuitive and easy it is to work on the machine thanks to the 10-inch touchscreen programmer. 

A novelty among the solutions available on the market were perforation discs, controlled by an electromagnet, allowing to switch perforation on and off. This gives customers the opportunity to produce coupons, tickets or tear-offs without the need for a die-cutter! The Swift Speed Fold creasing and folding line, which is very compact, has won the recognition of Customers with its precise and fast operation, and its innovation has met with undying interest.

However, the GMP Qtopic 380 Auto and GMP Qtopic 380F semi-automatic foiling machine were the most popular. GMP, which manufactures them, is a world leader in the production of digital print finishing equipment. Akonda is an authorized dealer of GMP in Poland, so both advisors and technicians are well trained by GMP specialists and presented their knowledge at the Print Festival. Foiling, as a simple way of refining and protecting the printout at the same time, is not the only capability of this foiler.

We handed out a great many samples demonstrating Qtopic's capabilities and Guests were able to see the myriad possibilities of this technology. We achieve an effect comparable to matrix-free gilding and customers saw that they can produce very different applications - decorative products for interior design, unique certificates, difficult to forge holograms imitating security printing, business cards, diplomas and also unusual invitations or wedding cards." - comments Dominik Szulim, co-owner of Akonda.

Qtopic foiling machine provides high-quality foiling of digital printsh PP/BOPP films, and each machine is equipped with a winder that allows working with sleeking, holographic, glossy or gilding films. The entire gilding process from printing to final product was presented by Akonda together with its partner DKS. Using prints from Canon machines, the very different capabilities of the film maker and matrix-free gilding were demonstrated.

The presented compact SCC Bindery Combine aroused no less interest and customers confirmed that such multifunctional devices are in high demand. The ability to perform a significant part of the bookbinding tasks, automatically and from the touch panel allows to achieve many processes in one pass, and this saves not only time, but also material. Cutting, creasing, perforating, the compact size of the machine - all this made the versatility of this machine appreciated by customers. Also, the presented cutting machines were very popular among the guests, not only because of the quality of the work, but also because of the attractive price, without losing quality, precision or speed to the competition.

Experience from the last Fair and previous years very clearly shows that visitors to the Print Festival are looking for a wide variety of solutions to improve bindery processes and finishing of digital and offset prints.
